Markets

Our region hosts dozens of regular markets, with a range of eclectic stalls, entertainment and a lively atmosphere. Whichever market you visit, you can be assured to find bountiful produce, a unique setting and friendly locals. Most community markets are held monthly on a weekend, while the popular farmers markets are more often than not a weekly affair.

Byron Farmer's Market

Farmers galore

Started in 2002, by a handful of local farmers who wanted to be able to sell their produce directly to the public, Byron Farmer’s Market is the place to be seen on a Thursday morning. Kicking off at 7 and wrapping up at 11am, be sure to get there early to stock up on local seafood, meat, produce and bread.

It’s the perfect place for replenishing your fridge or picnic basket, and also features live music, excellent food and of course, friendly locals.

For a day trip into the forested hinterland, drive 45 minutes west of Byron Bay to the Channon craft market, Australia’s oldest art and craft market. Held on the second Sunday of the month, this extravaganza of more than 250 stalls enjoys a serene setting, as you are surrounded by rainforest and mountains. The hinterland market circuit continues with the legendary Mullum Farmer’s Market, which showcases Mullum at its colourful best every Friday from 7am to 11am. Sit under fig trees in the lush foothills of Mt Chincogan, listen to music, sip organic coffee and devour piping-hot crepes. There’s also a dedicated play area for the kids, as well as regular workshops and special events throughout the year.

Bangalow Markets

The Bangalow Market might just be the prettiest around. Its outdoor gatherings are held on the fourth Sunday of the month, and part of their success is the beautiful grounds the markets are held on, which are dominated by huge camphor laurel trees, which provide welcome shade and a magic forest atmosphere.

What’s more, a percentage of the market profit each month is distributed to Bangalow Community Groups on a rotating basis. With hundreds of stalls selling everything imaginable, as well as the quaint country atmosphere you’ll find in Bangalow, these markets are not to be missed.
